A Case Study
A recent article in Huffington Post stated there were “13 controversial Facebook firings of people in professional positions such as a Palace guard, doctors, teachers and more". In this activity, learners will be conducting a case study about the misuse of Facebook. This case study is very pertinent as it will allow the learners to see how important netiquette is. There are three parts to the case study in which the learners will do the following:
1. Access the article here and read it.
2. Provide a brief summary of the article.
3. Discuss the consequences from the employer’s perspective or the employee’s perspective.
Ø If the learner chooses the “voice” of the employee they will be expected to explain what a justifiable punishment should be.
Ø If the learner chooses the “voice” of the employer they will be expected to explain why they chose to take the action of termination.
The learners will be divided into small groups for this activity. The learners will be expected to present this case study by completing the attached document. Students may print and write out responses and hand in the document to your teacher OR use Word to edit the document with your responses and submit them using the form below the embedded document.
